New Delhi, Nov. 20 -- Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien on Thursday sounded a warning over the rising death toll in West Bengal linked to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
According to O'Brien, 31 people have died in the past 24 days amid the controversial exercise, which he and his party accuse of being a tool of "silent invisible rigging" designed to suppress voter turnout.
O'Brien took to social media platform X to highlight the issue, stating, "These are the kind of stories the legacy media are too skittish to touch," pointing to a climate of fear and intimidation reportedly spreading among voters during the SIR process.
