Kolkata, July 11 -- A local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader was shot and killed on Thursday night in the Bhangar area of West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district which triggered political tension in the locality.
According to the police, the victim, 38-year-old Rajjak Khan, was the president of the TMC's Chaltaberia unit and was a close aide of Canning East MLA Saokat Molla.
Khan was returning home after attending a party meeting when unidentified assailants attacked him near Siristala, under the jurisdiction of the Kashipur Police Station, police said.
