Kolkata, Nov. 22 -- A couple of days after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote to the Election Commission of India (ECI) urging it to halt the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in the state, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday intensified its attack on the poll panel, alleging that the commission is attempting to complete "a job of years in just two months" to please a particular political party.
The ruling party submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal, accusing the ECI of gross mismanagement, lack of preparedness and "endangering lives" through what it called a hasty and coercive SIR process.
