New Delhi, Dec. 19 -- In a dramatic escalation of the confrontation between the Treasury and Opposition benches, Members of Parliament from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and other INDIA bloc parties launched a 12-hour overnight dharna on the steps of the old Parliament building.

The protest began following the midnight passage of the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill, 2025 (VB-G RAM G) in the Rajya Sabha.

The sit-in, which commenced as the House adjourned in the intervening night of December 18 and 19, is scheduled to continue until noon today.
