Tirumala, Dec. 20 -- The Assam Government has decided to allot 25 acres of land in Guwahati for the construction of a Sri Venkateswara Swamy Divya Kshetram by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), against 10.8 acres of land proposed earlier.

The decision marks a major step towards establishing the first Sri Venkateswara temple in Northeast India, TTD said in a release here on Saturday.

The enhanced land allotment follows correspondence between the Chief Ministers of Assam and Andhra Pradesh.
