Tirumala, Jan. 4 -- The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Sunday announced that the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Tirumala will remain closed for more than ten hours on March 3 in view of Chandra Grahanam (Lunar Eclipse).

The lunar eclipse will occur from 3:20 pm to 6:47 pm, lasting nearly three and a half hours.

In keeping with age-old temple traditions, the shrine will be closed six hours before the onset of the eclipse, the TTD said in a release here.

As a result, the temple doors will be shut from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm on March 3.

Darshan for devotees will resume only after the completion of Suddhi and other prescribed purificatory rituals, which are expected to conclude by 8:30 pm.
