Tirupati, Jan. 2 -- The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has sanctioned Rs 8.55 crore to the Department of Microbiology at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences for strengthening its Infectious Disease Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (IRDL) under the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) scheme.
In a release here on Friday, Medical Superintendent Ram said the funds were released by the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, through the Director General of ICMR.
Head of the Department of Microbiology, Dr. Venkataramana, said the grant covers the first year of the project from January 1 to December 31, 2026.
