Agartala, Aug. 21 -- A day after a meeting between BJP's tribal front leaders from Tripura and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, aimed at strengthening the party's position in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC), tensions between the ruling BJP and its alliance partner TIPRA Motha have escalated.
The rift deepened after TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman warned that his party might walk out of the coalition if the Tiprasa Accord, signed prior to the last Lok Sabha election to formalize the alliance, is not implemented in its "true spirit and form."
