Los Angeles, May 2 -- 'Dune' star Timothee Chalamet is set to receive the David for Cinematic Excellence honorary award at this year's David di Donatello film awards in Italy, on May 7.

The 70th David di Donatello Awards will be hosted by veteran Italian actress Elena Sofia Ricci and English singer Mika.

Reflecting on the honour, Piera Detassis, President and Artistic Director of the Academy of Italian Cinema, praised Timothee Chalamet as "one of the most unpredictable and talented protagonists of international cinema today."

She added that Chalamet stands out for his ability to embody the complexity of an auteur actor while also shaping trends and styles as a cultural icon, Deadline reported.
