Shimla, Dec. 21 -- Petitioner and former CPM Deputy Mayor Tekinder Panwar stated today that the recent decision of the Supreme Court has set aside the Himachal Pradesh High Court's orders and directed the state to not indiscriminately fell apple trees planted on encroached government and forest land.

Terming the SC Judgement as a major relief from the impugned high court's sweeping directions to cut all the fruit bearing tree being planted against the law as it could have serious social, economic, and ecological consequences, he said:"The apex court has also directed the state government to frame a comprehensive policy on regularisation or allotment of land and place it before the competent authority for approval."The verdict was delivered...
