Gondia, Oct. 12 -- A male tiger that wandered into Maharashtra's Gondia city was safely rescued after an intense five-hour operation, forest officials said today.

The tiger was first spotted by locals near the Ring Road area, which houses key administrative offices, including those of the district collector and superintendent of police.

Upon receiving the alert, a forest department team rushed to the site last night.
