Umaria (MP), Oct. 5 -- A tiger's carcass was found within the Panpatha Buffer Zone in this district's Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve by officials while conducting their patrolling duty, Reserve sources said. Following the discovery, action was taken according to National Tiger Conservation Authority guidelines including a metal detector test of the carcass and a search of the area by a dog squad. All organs were found intact by wildlife experts.

The carcass was disposed of later in the presence of experts from Jabalpur and a Special Tiger Strike Force team. Viscera samples have been sent to the authorised laboratory whose report is awaited. Death is estimated to have occurred about five days back.
