Nagpur, April 6 -- Three youth have been arrested for allegedly abducting and murdering a 14-year-old boy for ransom in Maharashtra's Nagpur city, police said on Monday.

The victim, identified as Atharva Dilip Nanore, a resident of Gittikhadan, was reportedly lured away by the accused on some pretext at around 10:54 pm on the night of the Hanuman Jayanti.

The arrested accused have been identified as Jay Ramgopal Yadav, Krunal Ramesh Sahu and Aayush Mohan Sahu.

Police said the trio had planned to abduct the boy to extort ransom but strangled him to death inside a vehicle at around 11:30 pm, barely half an hour after the abduction.

According to officials, the accused killed the minor before making any ransom demand.
