Bahraich, Dec. 3 -- Three members of a gang involved in exacting money from freight carriers at national highways were arrested by the police in this district of Uttar Pradesh, police sources said on Tuesday.

According to sources, Mansoor Ali, a resident of Mirzapur Tilak village in the Nawabganj area, was returning to his home along with his two sons Abdul Mannan and Saddam after buying two buffaloes from a cattle market.

While on his way, three individuals stopped the vehicle near the Handa Basehri village at the Nanpara-Rupaidiha highway and started demanding Rs 50,000 from him by identifying themselves as police officials.
