Azamgarh, Jan. 3 -- : A series of tragic road accidents across Uttar Pradesh has claimed five lives and left others critically injured, highlighting ongoing concerns over road safety.

In Azamgarh district, a truck hit a scooter at around 11 AM on Saturday near Awak Mod in Kotila Bazaar under the Rani Ki Sarai police station area. The collision killed 40-year-old Pramod Chauhan, a resident of Ahiyai village in Mehnagar, and his three-year-old daughter, Sanvi, on the spot.

Pramod's wife, who was riding pillion, sustained serious injuries and was first taken to the Rani Ki Sarai Community Health Centre before being referred to the district hospital due to her critical condition.
