Kolkata, Aug. 26 -- Kolkata Police have launched multiple investigations after three bodies were recovered from the Anandapur police station area in the southern outskirts of the city within 24 hours.

In the first incident, a bar dancer from Ludhiana was found unconscious at a guesthouse near the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass on Sunday night.

She was rushed to a private hospital by her companion the next day, where doctors declared her dead.

Police suspect a drug overdose but are awaiting post-mortem results. Guesthouse staff said the duo had checked in on Sunday evening.

The second case came to light on Monday when fishermen at a picnic spot near the Bypass noticed a foul smell and alerted police.
