Chennai, Aug. 9 -- Three workers were killed and a woman was injured in an
explosion at a private cracker manufacturing unit at Vijayakarisalkulam village in
the southern Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu today.
Reports received here said the deceased included two women.
One woman was injured in the blast, which occurred due to friction while handling
chemicals for making crackers, and was shifted to hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Chief Minister M K Stalin expressed deep anguish and
shock over the incident and announced a solatium of Rs four lakh each to the
families of the deceased.
