Lakhimpur Kheri, Sept. 28 -- A head-on collision between a Roadways bus from the Lucknow depot and a passenger van, which was carrying 15 people, left three people dead and several others injured.
The accident occurred early this morning near the Bari Nahar turn in the Oel outpost area under Khiri police station.
According to police, the van was traveling from Sitapur to Lakhimpur, while the bus was en route from Lakhimpur to Sitapur.
The accident took place around 6 am and was so severe that the front portion of the van was crushed nearly 3 to 4 feet inward. The van's driver, Sunil from Piparia, died on the spot, trapped between the steering wheel and his seat. Two other front-seat passengers also died at the scene.
