Akola, Oct. 22 -- Three people were killed and one seriously injured after an unidentified speeding vehicle struck a group standing beside a broken-down car on National Highway-53 in Maharashtra's Akola district, police said today.
The incident occurred last night between Katepurna and Pailpada villages, when four individuals were reportedly standing next to their stationary vehicle, a speeding, unidentified vehicle hit the group and fled the scene, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Dhiraj Shirsat, Ashwini Shirsat (a married couple) and Arif Khan, the driver of the vehicle. All were residents of Borgav Manju.
The injured were rushed to Akola District Hospital and remain in critical condition.
