Imphal, March 24 -- Fresh incidents of firing were reported on Tuesday in Manipur's Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, further escalating tensions in the already volatile hill region, in which three persons sustained serious bullet wounds.
Heavy firing was reported in the two hill districts since Tuesday morning.
The Tangkhul Naga Foothills Organisation (TNFO) issued a strong demand for immediate State intervention.
Gunfire broke out in areas around Litan, Sinakeithel, and Mongkot Chepu, triggering panic among residents. Security forces rushed reinforcements to the affected zones and intensified patrolling as intermittent firing continued.
