Chandigarh, July 30 -- Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh announced the suspension of three doctors, including the Medical Superintendent, and the dismissal of a house surgeon following a fatal oxygen supply disruption at Jalandhar Civil Hospital that claimed three lives on Sunday evening.
The suspended doctors are Medical Superintendent Raj Kumar, Senior Medical Officer Surjeet Singh, and Consultant Anesthesia Dr. Sonakshi. House Surgeon Dr. Shaminder Singh was dismissed for gross negligence.
"A detailed inquiry is underway, and the suspended doctors face potential dismissal with loss of service benefits," Dr. Singh stated, terming the incident an "unpardonable" administrative failure.
