Kathmandu, June 15 -- Three workers were killed and three others injured after an under-construction bridge collapsed in eastern Nepal on Saturday evening, police said on Sunday.

The bridge was being constructed to connect Panchthar and Taplejung districts when it broke down at 18:30 local time, leaving six workers wounded.

"Three of them died in the course of treatment," Rupesh Tamang, spokesperson for Panchthar district police, said.

He noted that one of the injured was in "serious condition."
