Kolkata, Nov. 23 -- Three people have been arrested in Siliguri for allegedly impersonating officers of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and defrauding several individuals of lakhs of rupees, police said on Sunday.
The accused purportedly collected money from unsuspecting citizens on the pretext of "fixing" or "correcting" their documents during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters' list in the state.
Acting on a written complaint lodged at Matigara police station, the Intelligence Department and the Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate launched a joint probe.
