Kolkata, Feb. 25 -- : Three youths were arrested from the Park Street area of Kolkata after police recovered a massive haul of foreign currency from their possession, triggering concerns ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

According to police sources, a total of $474,000 in cash-equivalent to approximately Rs 4.31 crore-was seized from the accused.

In addition, 300,000 Thai baht, valued at around Rs 8.77 lakh, was also recovered.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sayan Das, Asad Mohammed Punjabi, and Firoz Khan.

The arrests were made in the Park Street area following what police described as "suspicious movement" by the trio.
