Paris, Aug. 6 -- Over 4,800 households remain without electricity in southern France amid a massive forest fire that has spread over 24,700 acres, BFMTV reported, citing local authorities.
On Tuesday, the French Civil Security Service (DGSCGC) said that a fire in the department of Aude had spread over 4,500 hectares (about 11,100 acres). Local authorities reported two casualties.
BFMTV reported later on Tuesday that the fire had spread over 5,000 hectares and that 2,500 households were without power. About 30 vehicles had burnt down and eight residential buildings were affected.
One of the two people injured by the fire was in critical condition with severe burns, BFMTV said.
