Dhaka, Dec. 20 -- Thousands of mourners converged in the Bangladeshi capital today for the funeral prayers of popular July Uprising figure Sharif Osman Hadi, whose death two days ago led to a wave of violence across Bangladesh.
Bangladesh observed state mourning for Hadi, spokesperson of the right-wing socio-cultural organization, Inqilab Moncho, who died in a Singapore hospital on Thursday night, a week after he was shot at and grievously injured by motor-cycle borne assailants.
Hadi, who was known for his anti-Awami League and anti-India statements, has been dubbed a "martyr" by the Bangladesh interim government.
