Dhaka, Dec. 20 -- Thousands of mourners attended the funeral prayers of prominent July Uprising figure Sharif Osman Hadi at the South Plaza of the national parliament in Dhaka on Saturday, as Bangladesh observed state mourning for the Inqilab Moncho spokesperson, whose death two days ago led to a wave of violence across Bangladesh.

Hadi, who was known for his anti-Awami League and anti-India statements, has been dubbed a "martyr" by the Bangladesh interim government.

The funeral ceremony, held in the late afternoon, was attended by interim government Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, members of the Advisory Council, the Bangladesh Army Chief, and representatives from across the political spectrum.
