Kolkata, Sept. 13 -- The death of a third-year English department undergraduate female student of Jadavpur University (JU) in south Kolkata on Thursday night was caused by drowning in a water body on the campus, according to an autopsy report, official sources said.

A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Jadavpur Police Station today, and officials have sealed off the area.

Twenty-one-year-old Anamika Mondal, a resident of Nimta in North 24 Parganas, was found floating in a large water body within the JU campus around 10:30 pm on Thursday, where a cultural programme was underway.
