Chandrapur, Oct. 27 -- A 45-year-old woman farmer was killed by a tiger last evening in Ganeshpipri village of Gondpipri taluka in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, marking the third fatal tiger attack in the area within a week, officials said today.

The victim, identified as Alka Pandurang Pendor, was harvesting cotton alone in her field when the tiger attacked. Her family members discovered her body upon returning from tending to the cattle, forest department sources confirmed.

The incident has triggered panic among residents of Ganeshpipri and neighbouring villages.
