Chamoli, Aug. 23 -- The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) today launched relief and rescue operations following a cloudburst that struck Tharali tehsil in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, leading to flash floods.
After the cloudburst, ITBP immediately inducted a platoon-strength team from its 8th Battalion based at Gochar and, upon reaching the site, immediately launched relief and rescue operations, an ITBP statement said.
Late on the night of August 22-23, a sudden cloudburst struck Tharali tehsil in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, causing flash floods and debris flows that inundated several residences, shops, the tehsil complex, and the official residence of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, the statement said.
