Thane, Jan. 22 -- District court here on Wednesday convicted and sentenced a 40-year-old woman to three years of rigorous imprisonment for abetment to suicide.
Additional public prosecutor Rekha Hiwrale told the court that the 14-year-old victim had identified a teenage boy, accused in a case of molestation, during an identification parade in jail.
Upon this, the accused woman, a relative of the boy, who resided in the Kopri locality of Thane (east) as the victim, threatened her not to depose in the court against him, otherwise, he would throw acid on her and deface her once he comes out of the jail.
Disturbed with this threat, the victim attempted to commit suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling with an 'odhni' on October 12, 2016...
