Thane, May 30 -- The Maharashtra Excise Department has seized illicit liquor valued at over Rs 13 lakh during raids at three locations in Thane district, officials said on Friday.

According to Pravin Tambe, Superintendent of State Excise, the operation targeted two sites in Ulhasnagar and one in Ambernath, resulting in the confiscation of 352 bottles of alcohol, including premium Scotch. The seized liquor, sourced from Haryana and Delhi, is prohibited for sale in Maharashtra.

Three accused - Arun Kumar Ramchandra Poptani, Suraj Srikaushal Shukla, and Deepak Rajkumar Nankani - were arrested in connection with the illegal trade. The raids were conducted following a tip-off. Further investigation is underway.
