Mumbai, June 2 -- A 43-year-old resident of Thane district has died from complications linked to COVID-19, health authorities confirmed on Monday.
The victim, Vinit Kini, who lived in Khochivde village near Naigaon, was initially admitted to a private hospital in Vasai with fever and breathing difficulties.
After his condition deteriorated and he developed pneumonia, he was transferred to Raheja Hospital in Mahim, Mumbai, where he tested positive for COVID-19 and succumbed late on Friday night.
Municipal commissioner Anil Kumar Pawar reported that Kini's body was taken directly to the Pachubunder crematorium, in line with safety protocols.
