Mumbai, June 4 -- The Maharashtra Police seized over 34 kg of ganja, valued at approximately Rs 6.89 lakh, from a taxi in neighbouring Thane district and arrested four individuals connected to the case, officials said on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the police stopped a taxi carrying three men at Mahajanwadi in the Mira Gaothan area on May 29. A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered 34.484 kg of ganja, said Dr. Vijaykumar Marathe, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar Police.
The contraband's estimated market value stands at Rs 6,89,680. The three occupants of the taxi, including the driver, all residents of Mumbai, were taken into custody. Authorities also impounded the vehicle.
