Thane: COVID-19 count rises by 228, 2 more deaths reported

Thane, Jan. 19 -- With the addition of 228 coronavirus positive cases, the infection count in Thane district of Maharashtra mounted to 2,49,735 an official said on Tuesday.

These new cases were reported on Monday , he said.

As the virus claimed two more lives, the death toll in the district rose to 6,057. The mortality rate is 2.43 per cent, he added.

So far, 2,39,847 patients have recuperated from the infection, which took the recovery rate to 96.04 per cent. There are 3,831 active cases in the district at present, the official said.

In neighbouring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count has gone up to 44,875 while the death toll is 1,194, he said. UNI XR SB 1131
