Bangkok, July 24 -- A Thai F-16 fighter jet bombed targets in Cambodia as weeks of tension over a border dispute escalated into clashes that have killed at least two civilians, sources said today.

Thailand deployed F-16 fighter jets along the disputed border, and one of the aircraft fired into the Cambodian territory destroying a military target, the Thai army said.

Both countries accuse each other of escalating the tensions. Cambodia has been accused of firing rockets into a Thai village and attacking a hospital, while Thailand has carried out air strikes on Cambodian military targets, as per local media reports.
