Hyderabad, Aug. 12 -- The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has refuted claims of a blanket hike in bus fares during the Rakhi Pournami festival, clarifying that the revision applied only to special services operated between August 7 and 11.
In an official statement on Tuesday, the management termed such reports as "false propaganda" aimed at tarnishing the corporation's reputation. As per the State Government's G.O. No. 16 (2003), fare revisions are permitted up to 50 per cent on festival special buses to cover additional diesel and maintenance costs.
TGSRTC said 4,650 special buses were deployed to handle the festive rush-407 on August 7, 960 on August 8, 1,570 on August 9 (Rakhi), 781 on August 10, and 932 on August 1...
