Patna, Aug. 7 -- Union textile minister Giriraj Singh today said that the textile sector which has provided employment to more than 4.6 crore people across the country was now heading towards green textile economy by recycling the pre and post consumer textiles and other textile waste driven by quick changing trends.

Describing textile industry as a living ecosystem of skill, identity, and opportunity, Singh said that the sector has quietly transformed into a modern economic engine.

He said that as the fashion was gaining momentum fast and was expected to grow into 50 - 60 billion market dollars by 2030, it will also add to the surge in textile waste driven by quick-changing trends.
