Kolkata, Feb. 16 -- Amid the election-bound atmosphere in West Bengal, job aspirants once again hit the streets on Monday, demanding immediate recruitment.

Candidates who had cleared the 2014 and 2017 Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) and completed NIOS D.El.Ed courses called for a march to Bikash Bhavan to press their demands.

According to the protesters, the march was stopped by police soon after it began.

Several demonstrators were allegedly detained, triggering scuffles between the job seekers and the police.

Following the confrontation, the protesters staged a sit-in at Karunamoyee, where they continued their agitation by beating plates as a mark of protest.
