Hyderabad, Aug. 12 -- Tension escalated in Hyderabad today after BJP Telangana State President N Ramachander Rao was placed under house arrest by police.
The move came ahead of his planned participation in Kumkumarchana rituals at Peddamma Temple in Banjara Hills, where a recent vandalism incident has sparked anger among Hindu groups.
Rao was also scheduled to join the Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra in the Secunderabad and Goshamahal constituencies. Police reportedly acted on the inputs that he might proceed to the temple, leading to his detention at home.
