Badaun, July 25 -- A 15-year-old Kanwariya, Ankit, a resident of Bhagwanpur village in Bareilly, was tragically killed after being hit by a speeding tractor-trolley on the Bareilly-Mathura highway near Butla village in Badaun district on Friday afternoon.
The accident triggered violent protests by fellow Kanwariyas, leading to arson and assault at the site.
The incident occurred around 2 PM in the Ujhani police station area, when a group of Kanwariyas returning from Kachla Ganga Ghat had stopped to rest under a tree along the highway. Another group of Kanwariyas from Bareilly's Nawabganj was en route to Kachla with a DJ system mounted on a tractor-trolley. The speeding vehicle lost control and hit Ankit, killing him on the spot.
