Meerut, Sept. 21 -- Tensions flared in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district on Sunday as an unauthorised Gurjar Mahapanchayat was held in Dadri village under Daurala police station limits led to chaos and police intervention. Law enforcement officials dispersed the gathering and took several leaders into custody amid heavy sloganeering and protests.

The Mahapanchayat was reportedly convened without official permission and saw participation from Gurjar leaders across Meerut, Saharanpur, Noida, Muzaffarnagar, and other parts of western Uttar Pradesh. The agenda included discussions on community rights and representation in upcoming elections.
