Tennis: Djokovic eliminated by lucky loser at Indian Wells
California, March 9 -- Novak Djokovic was eliminated from the ATP 1000 Indian Wells Masters on Saturday, suffering a shock 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 loss to Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion won just 63 percent of points on his first serve while his 85th-ranked rival converted five of eight break points to prevail in just over two hours.
It is the second time in as many years that Djokovic has been defeated by a lucky loser in the Californian desert. Last year, the 37-year-old Serb fell in the third round to Italian qualifier Luca Nardi.
