Imphal, April 27 -- Ten militants belonging to different groups were apprehended by security forces and Manipur police during separate operations during the last 24 hours.
Police said on Sunday that five cadres of a militant outfit were nabbed in Wangkhei Thangapat Mapan, Imphal East near Young Pioneer Club under Porompat PS, Imphal East District.
Two live rounds, one .303 ammunition and one AK Rifle ammunition, three wireless sets were recovered from them.
Police said they were allegedly involved in extortion activities and intimidation of locals by forcefully meddling in private affairs of individuals in lieu of monetary benefits. One of them was involved in extortion and intimidation by posing as a middleman.
