Nalgonda (Telangana), Oct. 16 -- The Nalonda police have busted sandalwood smuggling gang by arresting three individuals accused of felling and smuggling high-value sandalwood trees from farmers' long-term plantations in the district.
Three key suspects involved in the sandalwood muggling gang's operations remain at large, police said here today.
All the members involved in this operation hail from other states - Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
The gang, which had targeted six farms across six mandals in the district, chopped down Rs 1.66 crores worth 166 trees, which were being sold on the black market.
Police seized 11 logs, two motorcycles, and two mobile phones from the arrested suspects.
