Hyderabad, May 26 -- In a pioneering move that has garnered national attention, Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya Seethakka on Monday held a special review meeting with transgender individuals working as traffic assistants at the State Secretariat.

This groundbreaking initiative, the first of its kind in India, saw the appointment of 44 transgender individuals as traffic assistants six months ago by the Department of Women and Child Welfare and the Department of Occupationally Disabled and Transgenders Welfare. Of them, 38 have been actively serving with commitment and discipline, earning widespread respect from the public.
