New Delhi/Hyderabad, July 16 -- In a significant breakthrough on long-pending water-sharing disputes, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reached key agreements on river water management during a meeting convened by Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Telangana scored a major win with the Centre agreeing to install telemetry instruments at every off-take point on the Krishna River and its canals, ensuring accurate, real-time monitoring of water usage.

Andhra Pradesh also accepted responsibility for undertaking urgent restoration and repair works on the ageing Srisailam Dam, a critical irrigation and hydropower structure.
