Hyderabad, Jan. 21 -- Telangana Police has intensified efforts to support Maoists who have surrendered and are returning to the mainstream, urging those still underground to give up violence and rejoin civilian life.

A police statement on Wednesday said 576 Maoists surrendered in 2025, a number described as unprecedented since the formation of the People's War (CPI-Maoist) in 1980.

Rehabilitation initiatives are being accelerated for surrendered cadres facing difficulties due to lack of identification by helping them obtain Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and bank accounts, besides ensuring access to basic facilities.
