Hyderabad, March 20 -- Telangana has emerged as a strong growth engine for the country, recording a growth rate 2.6 percentage points higher than the national average, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said on Friday.

Presenting the budget in the Assembly, he said the state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) contributes about 5 per cent to the national GDP, reflecting its growing economic strength.

Bhatti noted that while India's GDP growth rate declined from 9.8 per cent in 2024-25 to 8 per cent in 2025-26 at current prices, Telangana's GSDP growth rate increased from 10.6 per cent to 10.7 per cent during the same period.
