Hyderabad, Sept. 11 -- Telangana Labour, Employment and Mines Minister Vivek Venkataswamy today underlined the need for stringent safety measures in industries, warning that negligence by managements could lead to tragedies like the one at Pashamailaram's Sigachi Industries, which claimed 53 lives.

Speaking as the chief guest at a training program on job safety in the chemical and pharmaceutical sector, held at MCR HRD Institute, Jubilee Hills, under the aegis of the Industries Department, the Minister launched a Training of Trainers initiative.

The program is aimed at safety representatives of chemical and pharmaceutical companies as well as principals of ITI colleges.
